de Bernd 2025-07-08 20:40:15 Nr. 1838
Bernd was really expecting that by now he could by one of those "Augmented Reality" glasses and it would continuously project useful information about his environment into his field of view. Like for example he could look at a mountain and it would tell him the name of the peak, or blend in information about a plane flying overhead, or show him the current time table of a bus stop, etc. Bernd wasn't even expecting anything really exceptional, just stuff that seems trivial. But not even the trival stuff exists in any way. Why is technology not progressing anymore, Bernd?
It is progressing. But not for the sake of the people but for the sake of capitalism. The only technologies that advance are the ones which are usefull for the stakeholders.
Augmented reality is absurdly hard and wearable tech is generally uncomfy. Smartphones are the closest we will get to comfortable augmented reality for a long time.
I follow this nice coloured fellow who got to betatest exactly what you're talking about. The problem seems to be battery, not many people are willing to wear a thicc fucking rim or a separate battery pack that connect to the glasses via wire. But it's getting there, video is from 7 months ago.
